The Golden Year
The WorkShop Theater
The Golden Year is the story of an elderly couple, both recently retired, one by choice, the other not. It isn’t long before Jean, piloting her life into new territory, decides to fulfill a long forgotten dream of acting on the stage, and she auditions for a local community theatre. When they are scammed by their long-time investor, they are confronted with the need to re-assess the rest of their lives. One of my many collaborations with director Kathy MacGowan, this piece benefited immensely from large selection of lounge music, used to build themes, transition, and create an engaging sonic foundation for the piece.
