Soulographie: Our Genocides

La MaMa ETC, Ellen Stewart Theater

Soulographie is a performance cycle looking at 20th century America through its relationship to genocides in the States (the Tulsa Race Riot), in East Africa (Rwanda/Uganda) and Central America (Guatemala/El Salvador). Playwright Erik Ehn's 17 dramatic works were featured at La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre in NYC, converging for a full performance cycle after each work was independently produced worldwide. As "Global Sound Designer," it was my job to coordinate with 17 completely different production teams and discern the audio needs of the performance cycle as a whole, in order to design and implement an audio system that would be flexible enough to meet each show's needs, while still maintaining an affordable budget. I was also responsible for providing original sound design for individual productions in need of sound effects design.
