Marking the first off-Broadway musical created by Filipino Americans, Felix Starro explores issues of faith, family, love, loss, betrayal, and what it means to be an undocumented Filipino immigrant in America.
To maximize use of the stage, the design concept placed musicians on a hidden open-air balcony directly above the audience. All instruments were mandated to be electronic, including the Roland drumkit, in order to enhance the power of the score without proving an audience distraction due to the unconventional orchestra placement, resulting in an invisible Broadway-caliber sound.
